What I bought at Comic City
Mostly yaoi, of course.
But I didn't get much; it was only a small event, after all - only East halls 1 and 2 were open. I got a couple of Gurren-Lagann books first. One was a Simon x Kamina, but frankly it was quite disturbing - Timeskip-Simon x 7-year-old-reincarnation-Kamina or something. This was from the same circle that did that weepy-uke-Kamina book and also does a lot of shota-style-Simon. I'm not keen on the circle, but I do want Simon x Kamina, so I've got to take what I can get, I guess. There was supposed to be a Simon x Kamina novel circle there too, but they didn't turn up.
The other book I got was Kamina x Timeskip-Simon. Not much with the sense-making, but it was funny and awesome and I liked it a lot. It had Rossiu being an ass and Kamina suggesting a threesome to Nia (and threesome is 3P in Japanese. What does the P stand for, I wonder?). And at the end there was an unrelated Simon/Viral story, and they didn't have anal sex, and that's rare enough in dojinshi that it pleased me a lot to see.
I do like Gurren-Lagann dojinshi in general. Yeah, there's a lot of shota, but there's also a lot of awesome and fun stories if I look for them. Now, if someone would just write Yoko/Nia!
I also got some ConYu books. They were drawn beautifully, but just not my idea of good ConYu. I don't know why I'm even bothering any more, I just can't seem to find what I like. And where's the YuCon? Honestly, I can get SimoKami, I can get MasaGuren, I can even get SenaHiru, but I can't get YuCon? What's up with that? Conrad's the uke-est of any of them!
The only other books I got were a couple of original artbooks, one of flower fairies and one of various young women in pretty dresses, often with wings. They were both really lovely.
And that was that! I didn't stay long, but I'm happy with that second Gurren-Lagann book I got, so I'm glad I went.
